The Scouts’ Guild Raffles Chapter is organising a walk to see some birds from China before they return home.
Singapore’s Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve is a world-famous stopover for migrating birds. In their annual travels from their summer breeding grounds in China to their winter refuges in the Southern Hemisphere, they pass here twice each year.
We intend to see them on their homeward journey.
Date: Saturday, 27th February 2016.
Time: 8.30 am
Program: Assemble at the Entrance of Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, Neo Tiew Road. Please use the second parking lot for private cars that is located in the side road.
After viewing the official video presentation in the theatrette, which starts at 9 am sharp, we will begin our walk. Our main group will use a route that is 2 km in length, with many observation posts that allow for rest halts. We should complete it by 11 am, and make plans for lunch afterwards.
The more adventurous can, on their own, explore the many alternative routes which are well laid out with maps and signage.
Walking in Sungei Buloh is easy, as the paths are level and well maintained. However, toilets are only available in the Headquarters Building, which also has drinks vending machines. You are advised to carry your own water.
