Raffles Institution
Founded by Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles in June 1823, Raffles Institution is the oldest school in Singapore. Raffles' goal was to provide education for the sons of the British servants and the children of local leaders in Singapore, a new British colony.
The original campus of Raffles Institution was located along Bras Basah Road, where Raffles City Shopping Centre now stands.
In 1972, the school relocated to Grange Road. In 1990, it moved again to its current site at Bishan in central Singapore. It merged with Raffles Junior College on January 1st 2009.
Raffles Institution offers the six-year Integrated Programme to Years 1-4 students of the school and Raffles Girls' School (Secondary). The Institution is Singapore's only member of the G20 Schools Group.
Former students of both Raffles schools join the Old Rafflesians' Association: http://www.rafflesian.com/
